Studio Progress Update!Hey fans, we recorded the final lead vocals for all the songs on the new album last weekend at Bell Labs Recording in Norman, Oklahoma. Also, Blaise Thompson & I got lead guitar recorded on about half the songs earlier today (4/28), and we're going back to finish recording the lead guitar parts on the remaining songs this coming Tuesday (4/30). Probably looking at a short background vocal session sometime in late May around the time we start final editing & mixing. Blaise & I were both playing our asses off today, and together with the tracks Nicholas Ley, Cody Fowler, Justin Alan Hays & I have already laid down, I think it's going to be pretty psychotic. I made a mojo hand in a ritual last night & took it with me to the studio today. It seemed to work. We'll be setting up a pre-order site shortly, so stay tuned & keep the faith! BeTh, Nick, Cody, Justin & Blaise New Album Progress Update4/20 ... well, we've finished recording the drums, bass, & all rhythm guitars for the new album. Yesterday we recorded the final vocal parts for 9 of the 14 songs & we go back into the study this Monday 4/22 to finish the rest. At the end of this Month on 4/28 & 4/30, we go back to the studio to work on the lead guitar parts for the new album. And back again in May for a couple days of editing and mixing the new album. At which point we should be ready to send it off to have it mastered and then manufactured. So we're probably looking at sometime in July or August for the official release. And hopefully a huge album release party. The album is sounding really good at this point & we think y'all will really dig it ... if you love original psychedelic grunge punk! New Song posted "Love Tonight"Cool New Song posted for your listening pleasure "Love Tonight" in the player below. Written by BeTh isBell • vocals, lead & rhythm guitars & main keyboard parts, Ryan Lester • bass & the string parts, and Justin Thompson • drums. ©2013 Hope you dig it as much as we do! Beth & Jeff Acoustic Duo This Sat. at JJ's AlleyOur acoustic set actually is scheduled to start at 12:20am & run through 1:20am. We are the "unofficial afterparty" for the ACM Rocks Bricktown event this Saturday night down in Bricktown, OKC. Come out & help us sing all your favorite drunk barroom sing-along cover songs! :), We're #1 Punk Band in OKC on ReverbNation - ThanksBeThisBell has now moved up the charts on ReverbNation to be the #1 Punk Band in Oklahoma City. And we're #73 in the US and #224 worldwide. Not that we put a lot of stock in RN charts LOL, but still it's better to be #1 than not! Which is all due to you, our fantastic fans! ... So thank you, we love you guys! Meet BeTh ...I used to do civil rights law, was pretty good at it, you even have rights as an employee here in Oklahoma against being fired for reasons that violate Oklahoma public policy because of my efforts. Then I transitioned from male to female. That was a hard decision, and a very costly one. I was no longer able to find a job, even among firms that specialized in civil rights law, because they feared that a jury or clients would not be as open minded as they claimed to be. But I am who I am & like who I am, and you have to be you, sometimes society does not make that easy LOL, but you have to be true to yourself, let your light (not "their" light) shine. I've always been interested in music. Picked up a guitar in high school, but never stuck with it back then. After my divorce, after being diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder & during the whole transition process, writing songs kept me sane. If not for songwriting & music, I would have lost hope & would not be here. That's a pretty serious, but true, statement. Having little actual opportunity to return to practicing law, and having almost died twice from two major heart / pulmonary embolism episodes due to medical complications, I decided to go to music college to pursue music. My songwriting & performance skills have all gotten much better lately. I don't have much opportunity or the money to return to law ... so I'm all in on music. Got to find a way to make this work for the sake of my twins, and to pay off these student loans lol. Recently, I've freed myself of the burden of having to know every song, and just been focusing on playing the ones I like better, and that's been working nicely. The new album is coming along nicely, love these guys, & so focusing on that. Got my Associates degree in music last semester & may even get my Bachelor's degree in music this semester, hopefully. Would like to eventually teach. And tour. That would be sweet. And fight. For your right to be yourself too. Download the NEW BeThisBell App for your Phone!Hey y'all. The band is recording a new album (psychedelic grunge punk) with Justin Hays on guitars, Nick Ley on drums, Cody Fowler on bass, and BeTh isBell on vocals & guitars, due for release later this summer. This is a link to our new app for your iPhone or app-capable cell phone. You have to load it through your internet browser on your phone: http://www.bandapp.com/bethisbell ... but once you do it shows up as an icon on your phone & you can listen to music, be the first to get the new album when it comes out, first to get news, show & ticket info, photos, etc., and stay in touch with the band & other fans. Awesome! Our NEW Twitter Page. Follow Us!Our old Twitter account @BeThisBell got hacked, well actually the email associated with it LOL, so we've had to wipe the slate clean and start completely over again on Twitter. So the band's NEW Twitter page is @BeThisBellBand - so please follow us on Twitter. It's sort of lonely at the moment with only 1 friend. Ha ... well, hope you can help by following us on Twitter at our new page @BeThisBellBand Initial Reviews of the Band's New AlbumWe let some folks listen to the new album over the weekend, well the basic tracks for the 15 songs we've finished recording so far this past week, and we haven't even added any lead guitars or really even mixed anything yet, just to get some feedback & have been blown away by the positive response. We're getting great reviews from people who ordinarily don't even like this kind of music, which is sort of amazing. We're also receiving feedback that folks really relate to the songs & their story of getting yourself out of depression and into the light, and relate deeply to the personal experiences and moods of the songs. As we've been saying, it's a ride from teenage angst through the shamanic wisdom of mid-life with a lot of fun adventures and relateable experiences thrown in along the way. One fan, Maria R. in OKC said ... "I listened to each song twice & I must say, your album is killer! Listening to it, I felt as if I was working some things out in my head with my whole staying sober day by day thing & I guess that's what music is supposed to do for everyone, move them... Wow! It definitely is moving for sure.... I had still photos playing out in my mind, hard to describe unless you yourself actually experience it but what I can say is that I have found a whole new appreciation for GOOD MUSIC since I've become sober & yours is certainly worth appreciation. AWESOME! I would love to own your album when it comes out! Sounds great!!!" ... and from a 24 year old fan in Austin: "I really liked your songs, the sound quality is amazing, and I have always liked your lyrics. The band sounds like the rock bands did in the 90's I thought, like STP or Black Crows ya know?" ... We're headed back into the studio March 9 & 10 at Bell Labs Recording in Norman to lay down more tracks and hope to release our new album "We Are The Gods!" later this year. Stay tuned! And buy a band T-shirt, it helps! ha! Sad News: Condolences to Ty Christy & his familyThe members of BeThisBell would like to extend our deepest sympathies & condolences to guitarist Ty Christy and his family. Ty was working with us preparing the songs and to play guitar on our new album, but his Father suddenly passed away the week prior to us going into the studio. His loss was sudden and tragic. And our hearts go out to our friend Ty & his family. We were thinking of him and three other friends who died right before we went into the studio when we recorded our new song Oblivion which is about the oblivion you feel when someone close to you dies and would like to dedicate the track to Ty's Father, and to our dear friends Lightning Rod (we played his benefit in Dallas) and Stoney Burke (and his girlfriend Shelley). To our friend Bobbie Sue Dorough who has experienced three deaths in her family herself. And to any of you who have recently or may soon have to live through the experience of losing someone you love. We have been there, recently, and know how you feel. And we want to give you a big warm hug. And much, much love. Update: Recording at Bell Labs (Norman, OK)Well, we're three days into recording our NEW album "We Are The Gods!" at Bell Labs Recording (Studio) in Norman, OK. And so far, we've finished all the drums and bass guitar parts, and 1/2 of the rhythm guitar work. Still have the other 1/2, plus lead guitars & lead vocals to record, but everything is starting to sound big. Y'all are going to dig it. The new album is scheduled for release later this year. It's going to rock!!! Recording New CD at Bell Labs in Jan/Mar 2013Been a while y'all, but exciting news! We're recording a new album, have 15 demos prepared for it so far & we go into the studio in less than 2 weeks at Bell Labs in Norman, OK. Working album title is "We Are The Gods!" and it will be all original rock. Some great players lined up to play on it: Nick Ley with ColourMusic on drums, Cody Fowler with Horse Thief on bass, Justin Alan Hays and Ty Christy on lead & rhythm guitar, and the one & only yours truly on vocals, lead & rhythm guitar. Should be a blast. Some really nice songs. Stay tuned!
